more than words

a song's lyrics don't necessarily express the emotions perceived by the listener. not for me, at least.
sometimes the eyes of this beholder tend to attach a different meaning to the artist's intention. what i *hear* in a song, as opposed to what i *get* literally, after reading the lyrics, is often very different from what i *feel* while listening.

this may well be a case in point.

peace to you and yours, cinnamin.

A beautiful song for sure. I know what you mean about using more than one sense to get the true meaning of a song. Listened to Janis Ian for years, but nearly cried when I watched her sing it as well. Some artists are just that: creating music that evokes emotion which can affect both mind and body. If it makes me want to do more than dance, they have definately succeeded in their attempt to send a message.

Want me to tell you what the lyrics actually are about??

***SPOILER ALERT****

Back when the song came out I saw an interview with the band and they said that the lyrics basically were about expressing one's love physically rather than just saying the words.

That has always been one of my favorite songs! Reaching through this cable line is a bit difficult, but know that there's a hug coming your way. ;)
