Smile Of The Day

look what i found.

"is that really me?"
"hell yes that's you, mom. just look at that smile."
"well...if that's me, i guess maybe i was kind of pretty back then."
"KINDA pretty? dang, you look like a freakin' movie star."

that made her smile.

"ha! and just look at you Now. you're still just as pretty.
especially when you smile."

updated, 11-12-07: see the original, uncropped picture beyond the cut.

as you may have read in the comments, this photo was cropped.

judging from the handwritten notation on the back of it, ["just before Lynn A was born"] i had no idea who the baby in the picture was and decided to just display mom's natural beauty alone.

upon further investigation, we've now decided the note should've read: "just after Lynn A was born," and thus the explanation for Mary Anne's radiance.

hey, stick a new mother in front of a camera and this is what you get, plain and simple...

(and from personal experience, i betcha the new dad looked *almost* as happy to be alive.)

Since I have gotton into blgging and AD forums, we have been sharing pics of our LO's. I see the movie star look so much. I think it is because back then, it meant something to look and act like a lady. It's too bad that is lost now. I miss that time and I think I was born in the wrong generation.

yeah, I'm ok....you ok??

the jinx thing is funny.

but ya know what? i have to disagree with your movie star theory.

i don't know that movie stars back then were acting so much like ladies any more or less than they are today, or that regular folks back then were any more lady-like than many of the people i know today.

i don't mean to be contrary, chris. i'm just sayin'...

wow, she is beautiful! what do you know about the picture? what made her smile like that? did she always look like that? she's gorgeous, holy cow, makes my charles ingalls episode look real bad.

thanks joanne.

gina, funny thing about that pic, she's holding a baby. on the back it says, "just before Lynn A. (my sister) was born."

we couldn't figure out who the baby was so i cropped it out before posting it. now we think it is her and the note on the back is wrong.
so, to answer your question... new mother glow.

(yeah, but your charles ingalls episode is Funny. and cute.)
