i have no idea.
a friend of mine used the phrase a lot in conversation. as in, "what in the cornbread hell are you talkin' about?"

or, "what in the cornbread hell was that?"

i suppose it's an obscure southern colloquial expression. i don't care for cornbread and don't believe in hell, myself, but i like the expression.
